Shatavari Powder
Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus)
Shatavari, sometimes known as wild asparagus, is primarily a reproductive tonic for females and a powerful adaptogen.
As a reproductive tonic, Shatavari is relied on heavily for all stages of a woman’s reproductive cycle, beginning with the menarche (start of menses), supporting the female system through menses, ovulation and fertility, uterine strength during pregnancy, childbirth and ample lactation (flow and quantity of milk), and hot flashes, irritability, irregular memory and dryness during menopause.
Shatavari is the primary uterine tonic in Ayurveda.
As a digestive aid, Shatavari coats and soothes the mucus membranes with its unctuous and sweet qualities, making this herb ideal for supporting the natural balancing of acidic digestion. Shatavari also promotes a healthy inflammatory response in the intestines.
A similar effect has been observed on the lungs, its unctuousness serving to restore moisture to a dry and over-heated respiratory tract.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Shatavari helps to build ojas, the precious fluid in the body that governs vitality, virility, immunity and sleep.
Shatavari is also especially useful in nourishing and calming the nerves, nourishing the brain and helping to support the brain and the body in regaining balance from vata disorders like spasms, pain, and insomnia.
